Cursillo
(Spanish word meaning “little course”) gives attendees the tools to enthusiastically share the joys of knowing Christ with others in their lives. During the Thursday through Sunday retreat, participants engage in study, reflection, fellowship, and worship.

Education for Ministry “EfM”
EfM invites people into small, mentored communities that help us understand our lives and shape our actions as we deepen our Christian faith. Through study, prayer, and theological reflection, EfM enables us to discover and exercise our gifts for ministry where we live and work. Classes meet on Mondays from 4 – 6 p.m.

Newcomers’ Welcome Ministry
This ministry welcomes and shares the love of Christ and St. John’s with those new to our church family. We do this in many ways including note writing, giving tours of our church facilities, and hosting various events.

Adult Christian Education
Our Christian Education programs provide offerings throughout the year that nurture us as we grow spiritually, and follow the Way of Christ, so that we may lead others. Diverse topics include foundation classes, small group studies, social justice issues, and theology & church history. Volunteer presenters are always welcome, whether you feel led to present a single class or facilitate a multi-week class.

Wednesday Bible Study
Each Wednesday at 10 a.m. we meet on Zoom to look at the readings for the upcoming Sunday. We study the texts, their background, and what they mean for us today.

Men’s Bible Study
Operating at St. John’s for (at least) 30 years, this group meets weekly on Thursday mornings via Zoom at 7:30 a.m. The study focuses on the lectionary readings for the following Sunday.

Women’s Bible Study
This group meets every Thursday at 9:30 a.m.in the Parish Hall. The study is led by the group and is a great way for women of all ages to connect and share their faith.

St. John’s 101
A 9-week class designed to help understand the Episcopal Church and how St. John’s lives into the vision and mission to which God calls us. This is informative for life-long Episcopalians and those wanting to learn more about this denomination and its spiritual depth. Anyone interested in joining St. John’s or being Confirmed, Received, or Reaffirming their faith, in the Episcopal Church should take this class.

Children’s Sunday School Volunteers
Consider using your talents and time to nurture, pass the faith, and have fellowship with young people on Sunday mornings. You do not need to have teaching experience. Lessons and supplies are provided.

Children’s Sunday School
Offered for children in preschool through 5th grade at 10 a.m. on most Sundays, our teachers work to provide a loving, creative, and active experience for children to recognize how much God loves us and how we are called to love each other. Our teachers are required to pass a background check and attend Safeguarding Our Children classes.

Youth Group & Sunday School
Students in grades 6th – 12th meet throughout the semester for faith formation, service projects, and fellowship.

Card Coloring
This ministry helps to nurture our congregation by coloring, hand-writing, and mailing beautiful cards to those who could use encouragement or support during a difficult time. Cards are provided each month and can be sent from the comfort of your home.

Card Writing
This ministry writes and sends birthday and anniversary cards. Cards are provided each month and can be sent from the comfort of your home.

Healing Service
Our Healing Service takes place on the last Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. All are invited to come together and pray for those who are in need of healing, and to share Eucharist.

Power of the Spirit Prayer Chain

The Power of the Spirit Prayer Chain of St. John’s is a faithful group dedicated to praying for the needs of others. Requests are sent via email with the permission of those for whom we pray. There are no set times for prayers. Those who pray may pray whenever and wherever they are. There is a sacred trust when others ask for prayers. Their request is not to be repeated to others. Join the chain and be a loving, strong, faithful pray-er for others!

Prayer Shawls
We meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. for fellowship while we knit and crochet shawls for those in need of healing and comfort, and blankets for infant baptism.

Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministry is a lay Christian care ministry that brings Christ’s healing love to those facing life’s many challenges. Stephen Ministers are well-trained to provide a high-quality one-on-one Christian relationship offering a caring presence and providing emotional and spiritual support in a confidential/ non-judgmental manner.

Young Adult Group
Monthly adult and family gatherings of those with or without school aged children. A time to grow in Christ and fellowship with other families!

Dessert and Discussion
All ladies are welcome. We meet the second Monday evening of the month at the home of Noreen Hendley to share fellowship and grow in our faith.

Hospitality
We serve and welcome others by sharing food and drink between services and at other receptions and events.

Lunch Bunch
Food, fun, and fellowship! The Lunch Bunch meets on the second Wednesday of each month at various restaurants around town.

Men of St. John’s
The Men of St. John’s group is open to all men of the parish who desire to connect, grow, and serve Christ together. Our informal meetings typically involve fellowship, food, discussion, community service, and a short devotional.

Small Groups
Joining a small group at St. John’s is a fantastic way to connect with others. We offer a range of groups for all ages and interests, from young adults to retirees as well as families. Some groups include book studies, fellowship gatherings, and even dinner clubs. There’s something for everyone, whether you want to meet new people or delve deeper with a close-knit group.
